National Tariff Commission (NTC) of Pakistan declared an Anti-Dumping (AD) Duty on imports of galvanized coil steel (GCS) from China on August 31, 2022, for five years. The duty imposed ranges from 6.09% to 40.47% on the high-grade and low-grade galvanized coil of 0.15mm to 2.75mm with a width of 600 mm or more.
NTC took action at the request of the steel industry. The domestic steel industry complained that dumping from China is making them non-competitive, forcing them to lower their prices, declining the demand and sales, decreasing capacity utilization, piling up the stocks of the mills, and decreasing the rate of investment and returning rate.
The anti-dumping duty levied on Cost and Freight (C & F) value in ad valorem of galvanized coil imports from China on the exporter of origin.
NTC investigated the effect of dumping, analyzed the anti-dumping duty measures in August 2015, and imposed a duty on February 8, 2017. Anti-dumping duty is levied on imports from China; however, galvanized coil imports are exempted from Anti-dumping duty if their origin is other than China. AD rates are the same as in 2017, but a few more companies have been added to this category.
