Climate Change, Causes, Effects & Measures

Globally, climate changes adversely affect different regions. There is a dire need to understand climate change; is it the result of human activities or natural? It also needs to check the effects and measures to overcome the problems.

Climate Change:

Climate change describes as a long-term change in temperature and weather system. Climate variations are global warming, weather changes, raising the sea level & the occurrence of tropical cyclones.

Causes of Climate Change:

Two primary sources of climate change are natural and anthropogenic activities. Natural changes occur with the appearance of sunspots during the solar cycle every 11 years as more sunspots on the surface of the sun it causes to affect the global temperature. Anthropogenic activities affect the climate in two ways; first is the emission of greenhouse gases (GHG) in the environment by using fossil fuels like gasoline, oil, and coal; second is landfilling through wastage which releases methane (CH4), a hydrocarbon gas, another form of (GHG).

Industrial development in developed countries causes more climate changes and global warming. The main drivers of climate change are manufacturing, energy, transportation, and agriculture.

Consequences of Climate Change:

Consequences of climate change are increasing land temperature, unprecedented rains, floods, droughts, tropical cyclones, wildfires melting glaciers & polar ice. Different regions experience different impacts of climate change., such as in Antarctica and Greenland, with massive losses of glaciers. In China, climate change resulted in drought, while Pakistan is in flood misery due to unprecedented rainfalls. Europe & South Africa are facing wildfires; a tropical cyclone affected Mozambique. South Korea and Japan are under the fear of the Hinnamnor typhoon. It affects the manufacturing, agriculture, and construction sector.
The cost of production is increasing due to varying temperatures, and the agriculture sector is affected due to droughts and floods, which affect the land’s soil.

Measures to Control Climate Change:

Rapid environmental changes and their adverse effects turn attention to taking necessary measures to control climate change. Control the GHG emissions from the industrial sector by using recycled products, energy-efficient technologies, carbon storage methods, renewable energy, and less use of chemical fertilizers & pesticides, which raises methane gas in the land. Globally, nations need to apply climate change levies.
